Art direction from pixels to shelves.
Independent creative work spanning original consumer products, character IP, packaging, e-commerce, and selected client collaborations.
About
My independent practice sits between art direction, brand building, and product development. The work ranges from original designer toys and collectibles to packaging, digital releases, storefronts, and outside brand engagements.
My role
I lead projects from early concept through final execution: defining the visual direction, designing what needs to be designed, directing illustrators, sculptors, and production partners, reviewing prototypes, and carrying the same point of view into packaging, commerce, and launch.
Designing characters that can become products.
Much of my independent work starts with original character systems designed to stay recognizable across different products, scales, and formats. Silhouette, proportion, color breaks, and defining traits have to remain recognizable when an illustration becomes a sculpt or manufactured object.
That means simplifying deliberately rather than discovering too late that a detail only worked on screen.
Turning art into something tangible.
I direct sculpt and production development around the character rather than treating manufacturing as a handoff. Form, stance, finish, construction, and production limitations all become part of the design process.
The goal is simple: the finished object should feel like the inevitable physical version of the original idea.
Building the system around the object.
A product rarely lives in one format. I adapt the same visual language across plush, vinyl, apparel, packaging, product presentation, and direct-to-consumer experiences while deciding what needs to change for each medium.
The surrounding brand matters too. Naming, packaging, storefront presentation, launch assets, and customer-facing communication should all make the product feel like part of one coherent world.
Helping existing brands elevate their product offerings.
Freelance work also means understanding when not to impose a personal style. For existing brands, I look for the visual idea that is already there, identify what is inconsistent or underdeveloped, and strengthen it across the next product, release, or customer touchpoint.
Recent work has included licensed consumer-product packaging, e-commerce, curated collectible releases, and ongoing art direction for established brands.
Whether the output is a figure, a package, a storefront, or a collaboration, the job is the same: establish a clear visual idea and make sure it survives every step between concept and release.
