Art and E-Commerce Director / Community Manager · 2012–2016

Collectibles built for fans — and the business behind them.

Mezco Toyz develops collectible products across original characters and major entertainment, music, and pop-culture properties. I worked across the brand during a period of rapid direct-to-consumer growth, helping shape how products were packaged, presented, launched, and experienced by collectors.

About

Mezco operates at the intersection of product design, licensing, fandom, and collector culture. Every release has to feel authentic to the property while still belonging unmistakably to Mezco.

My role

My role crossed art direction, packaging, e-commerce, launch creative, and community experience. I worked within licensor requirements, developed customer-facing creative, and helped connect the physical product to the digital storefront and collector experience around it.

01 · Licensed product and packaging

Working inside someone else’s world.

Licensed work is less about imposing a style than understanding what makes a property recognizable and protecting it through execution. I designed packaging and supporting creative within established licensor standards for properties including The Notorious B.I.G., King Kong, Public Enemy, and The Goonies, balancing the identity of each property with Mezco’s own product and presentation standards.

The challenge was making every release feel authentic to the source while still working as part of a larger collectible line.

02 · E-commerce and Product Presentation

Enable untapped sales channels to grow the brand.

For collectible products, the storefront is part of the product experience. I helped direct Mezco’s digital brand and e-commerce presence, shaping how releases were organized, presented, and communicated to customers.

During that period, the direct-to-consumer business grew from launch to approximately $3M in annual online revenue. The work connected product imagery, merchandising, site experience, and launch communication into a clearer path from discovery to purchase.

03 · Collector Experience and Brand Stewardship

Different properties. One collectible brand.

Mezco’s releases spanned very different licenses, audiences, and visual worlds. My role extended beyond individual assets into the broader customer experience around those products — from launch communication and e-commerce presentation to maintaining a consistent creative standard across the brand.

The challenge was giving each property enough room to feel authentic while still making the overall experience feel unmistakably Mezco. That meant balancing licensor requirements, product needs, collector expectations, and brand consistency across a fast-moving release calendar.

The through-line

Working at Mezco meant balancing creative direction, licensed IP, physical product, commerce, and a highly engaged collector audience at the same time. The individual outputs were different, but the job was consistent: protect the integrity of the product and the property while creating a clear, compelling customer experience around both.
